Ransom Original Soul Wear was established in 1994 as an alternative to the many apparel lines that were making their way through our mainstream secular culture. My partners and I decided that the look and feel of this T-Shirt line would project the Southern California lifestyle while still providing a positive Christian Message. The name Ransom was chosen because it did not immediately have a Christian connotation and it allowed people to wear something that did not offend others by condemning them as many of the Christian T-shirt lines of the times were doing. We called those Turn or Burn messages. The scripture that inspired us was 1 Timothy 2:5-6 “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time…”. Our logo and graphics were designed to inspire questions so that the wearer could explain and share his faith while doing so. We felt it was more effective to engage when someone asked than to approach someone and put them on the defensive. This philosophy proved to be very effective and it launched Ransom to being one of the top selling apparel companies in the Christian market with placement in over 1400 stores nationwide. We also became the Preferred Apparel Provider to National Christian College Athletic Association. Many professional athletes began wearing the line and this also solidified our place in the market. We received many testimonials about how our T-Shirts and designs
helped people share the Gospel in a very non-confrontational way and how many of our apparel pieces traveled the world with those in ministry.
Our logo which was made up of 4 elements, three red nails forming an R and a circle around the R allowed us to display the three nails that Jesus endured on the cross and the circle illustrated the eternal never ending nature of our God. This logo was placed on all apparel and became a replacement for many mainstream logos worn by the college kids in Christian colleges throughout the United States.
I am happy to say that we are bringing back the Ransom line after a 20 year hiatus. I feel the line can still have relevance and effect lives just as it did in the 90’s. With advent and growth of online sales we can have a much further reach into the Christian market thereby providing another tool to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and his ransom for our lives. Today the world needs Christ and his love more than ever. I believe we have abandoned the passion of the simple message that He brought to us. To love one another. I believe more than now we need to take a stand for our faith and our beliefs and to do so by proclaiming who we are, Children of the Most powerful God. Our clothing line will be a step in that direction. It will be a step in supporting other believers and it will allow us to grow and spread our resources to those who do not know Him. Please join us in or ministry and our mission to share the Gospel through apparel and doing so in a loving manner.
Ransomwear founder Jamie Cuadra was gracious enough to license the R logo and Ransomwear line to Reconsider for our launch because he believes in the mission of broadcasting the great ministries and work that people are putting into the Kingdom for others to see. This helps us all have hope and gives people models for replications and ideas to stir creativity and action.
